SO SAD!!!! Osun Varsity Staff Crushed To Death By Fallen ContainerA tragic accident occurred along the Ilesa-Ibodi road on Wednesday, claiming the life of a female staff member of the University of Ilesa.
Reports indicate that a container filled with cashew nuts fell off a truck and landed on the car driven by the victim, just a few meters away from the university’s main gate.
Passersby rushed to the scene to rescue the victim, who had just finished her work for the day and was heading home. Despite rescue efforts, the victim is feared dead as her vehicle was trapped under the fallen container.
The accident caused a significant traffic jam on the busy road, complicating rescue operations. Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, expressed sorrow and sadness over the tragic incident and called on relevant government agencies to investigate the root cause of the accident.
He directed the Commissioner for Transportation to visit the scene, the University of Ilesa, and the family of the deceased. Additionally, the governor emphasized the need for new regulations on the usage of narrow roads by heavy-duty trucks to prevent similar accidents in the future.
